Grow Food Northampton (GFN) provides education, opportunities, tools, and land for people of all incomes, ages, and backgrounds to connect with the soil, access healthy food, and join the local sustainable food movement.

By growing an equitable food system, GFN creates a healthier and more just community and contributes to climate destruction mitigation.

On our 121-acre organic community farm, we:

- lease 100 acres of farmland to farmers who feed the community,
- offer 290 plots to gardeners who feed themselves,
- grow over 8,000 lbs. of food in our Giving Garden that is donated to local organizations, and
- conduct field trips for kids to learn about growing food and healthy eating.

Our vibrant downtown Tuesday Market connects farmers and customers for seven months each year while building community around the local food system.

Our Grow Food Kids and Farm to School programs offer hundreds of learning opportunities to children and teenagers in the Northampton Public School district each year.

Our SNAP Match, SNAP Share, and mobile Neighborhood Market programs ensure that hundreds of low-income individuals and families have access to affordable, healthy, local food.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, GFN’s work has taken on even greater importance as we connect local farmers to the community and serve as a leader in organizing stakeholders in the food system to address increased food access and food insecurity issues.

Your gift will help to support key Grow Food Northampton initiatives to get our community through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond:

- Purchase and delivery of free local produce direct from area farmers to subsidized housing neighborhoods around the city. This initiative supports both our local farmers and our neighbors who are experiencing increased food insecurity during the pandemic.
- Increased quantities of SNAP Shares at Crimson & Clover Farm to allow more families on SNAP to receive a full farm share for 20-24 weeks during the growing season.
- Increased staff hours in our Giving Garden so that we can grow thousands of pounds of organic vegetables and herbs for donation to food pantries, meal sites, and other organizations serving the members of our community hit the hardest by food insecurity during the pandemic.
- 75% discounts on plot fees and compost to low-income gardeners at our community garden so that they can grow food for themselves and their families in this time of increased food insecurity.
