Valley Gives is a day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Valley Gives is an initiative of Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

Valley Gives is on May 1, 2018 from midnight to 11:59:59 PM.
Q. What is GiveGab?
GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
Q. Who can donate?
Anyone may donate with a credit or debit card.
Q. What about donations?
Donations through the Valley Gives online portal to charitable nonprofit organizations and fiscally sponsored organizations are tax-deductible. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only. Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab. Donations cannot be refunded
Q. What is a Unique Donor?
For purposes of prizes and donations, it is important to clarify what a unique donor is.
A core goal of Valley Gives is to increase the number of individuals who donate in the Pioneer Valley. Therefore some Valley Gives prizes are awarded based on donations collected from “unique donors” or “individuals”.
- An individual person donating under their own name
- A donor giving on behalf of, in honor of, or in memory of someone else
- A child or youth under 18 (as they cannot legally make a credit card donation in their own name)
- A company or organization
Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?
As a donor you can always choose to cover the processing fees so that the organization gets the full amount you intend to donate. In this case, the organization will receive 100% of your online charitable gift.
GiveGab retains a 3% campaign management fee from all donations, capped at $20 per donation. Credit card processing fees charged by Stripe are an additional 2.2% + $0.30 for all credit cards.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.
Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?
No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.
Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit www.Valley-Gives.org on your mobile device.
Q. Can I give to Valley Gives before May 1?
Advanced Giving for Valley Gives began on April 26 and continues through April 30. Donations made during this period will be charged immediately and will appear on the organization's profile page. However, these donations will not show on Valley Gives page (www.Valley-Gives.org) until May 1. However, only donations made during this time will only count towards meeting the Matching Gift prize; all other donations for prizes must be made on May 1 to be counted towards prizes.
Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?
If an organization you are interested in is not listed in the search for Valley Gives, it is not participating for 2018.
Q. What is the minimum donation?
The minimum donation is $10.00. There is no maximum donation.
Q. How will this appear on my credit card statement?
Your donation will appear on your credit card statement as "[Organization name]." Depending on the specific logistics of your individual bank, the organization's name may be abbreviated to fit your credit card statement report requirements. Some organizations have chosen to use the K-Foundation as an intermediary to receive and manage their donations; in this case K-Fdtn will be listed instead of the organization you selected. That organization will still receive the your donation but indirectly from the K-Foundation. If you have questions about this, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q. What do I do to make donations on behalf of someone else?
On the donation form, you can designate if you would like to make a gift in honor of, in memory of, or on behalf of an organization or person. While you can choose to keep your name anonymous on the donor list, you can also enter a different name to be displayed on the donor list. Please note that by doing so, the person making the donation is still the donor (this is relevant for prizes organization are eligible for where numbers of donors are counted).
Q. Will I get a receipt for my donation?
Yes, all donations made to participating organizations through Valley Gives will receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift. This can serve as your tax receipt. Note, if the organization you supported has chosen to use the K-Foundation to manage their donation, the receipt will acknowledge the K-Foundation rather than the organization you support. You will get your tax deduction from the K-Foundation; the organization you support will get the funds from the K-Foundation.
Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, all donations made for Valley Gives are tax deductible.

The GiveGab Team can be reached by the blue Chat Bubble on the lower right corner of your screen. They are happy to assist you with technical questions about the Valley Gives site.
Q. Who do I contact if I have non technical questions about Valley Gives?
Staff at the Community Foundation are available to assist you with your questions. Prior to Valley Gives Day, May 1, 2018, we are available during working hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. During Valley Gives Day we are available periodically to provide support during much of the 24-hour period; if we are not available please leave a message, and we will definitely follow-up. We will respond to all calls on Valley Gives Day in a timely manner.

Q. Should I contact the organization I am donating to?
In most cases, you should not call the organization you are donating to unless is is an organization-specific issue. If you have problems, please contact the Community Foundation as specified above.
